THERMINATOR Project Kicks Off with a Dynamic Two-Day Meeting in Sophia Antipolis

The THERMINATOR project officially launched with a successful kick-off meeting held on the 24th and 25th of February 2025 at the premises of G.A.C. Group in Sophia Antipolis, France. THERMINATOR brings together a diverse consortium of leading European research institutions, SMEs, and industry stakeholders to revolutionize waste heat recovery.

Over the course of two engaging days, the consortium members aligned on the project’s ambitious objectives: merging electrocaloric and thermoacoustic technologies to create an innovative “conversion skin” capable of transforming waste heat into clean electricity.

The meeting opened with welcome remarks from Dr. Svetlana Klessova (G.A.C. Group, Project Coordinator) and Prof. Markys Cain (Electrosciences LTD, Scientific Coordinator), followed by presentations from each partner and an overview of the project from the European Commission’s representative, Konstantinos Charalampidis (CINEA).

Key highlights included:

  • Deep-dive sessions into each work package, from fundamental energy conversion principles to smart controls, system integration, and real-world validation.
  • A collaborative workshop to define a detailed roadmap for communication, exploitation, and stakeholder engagement.
  • The formation of strategic links across disciplines to ensure technological coherence and market relevance.

The kick-off also served as a team-building opportunity, reinforcing the collaborative spirit that will drive the project forward over the next three years.

With the roadmap set and the momentum high, THERMINATOR is now fully equipped to begin its journey toward greener, more efficient energy systems.

Stay tuned for more updates and opportunities to engage with the project through our upcoming newsletters and stakeholder board activities.
