THERMINATOR presented at Calorics Conference 2026 at the University of Cambridge

From 14 to 16 September 2026, Katja Klinar represented the THERMINATOR project at the Calorics Conference 2026, held at the University of Cambridge, bringing the project’s latest research on pyroelectric energy conversion to the international calorics community.

During the conference, Katja presented THERMINATOR’s work on the thermo-hydraulic analysis of a pyroelectric regenerator, focusing on how quickly the device can change the temperature of its active plate — a key factor influencing the performance of pyroelectric generators.

Using conjugate heat transfer simulations in OpenFOAM, the research translated the thermal response of the plate into a predictive design map showing the achievable temperature swing under different operating conditions. This map will help guide the selection of operating conditions and support the next stages of the generator’s development.

The conference provided an excellent opportunity to present THERMINATOR’s research, exchange with experts in caloric technologies, and contribute to discussions on innovative approaches to energy conversion and sustainable thermal technologies.

Many thanks to Katja Klinar for representing THERMINATOR at Calorics 2026 and sharing the project’s research with the international calorics community.
